drupal/core Vulnerability Remediation Guidance

CVE Description Full list of Impacted Versions Fix
CVE-2024-45440 core/authorize.php in Drupal 11.x-dev allows Full Path Disclosure (even when error logging is None) if the value of hash_salt is file_get_contents of a file that does not exist. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2024-22362 Drupal contains a vulnerability with improper handling of structural elements. If this vulnerability is exploited, an attacker may be able to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. 9.3.6, 9.3.x-dev Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2023-5256 In certain scenarios, Drupal's JSON:API module will output error backtraces. With some configurations, this may cause sensitive information to be cached and made available to anonymous users, leading to privilege escalation. This vulnerability only affects sites with the JSON:API module enabled, and can be mitigated by uninstalling JSON:API. The core REST and contributed GraphQL modules are not affected. 8.7.0, 8.8.3, 8.8.2, 8.8.0-rc1, 8.7.12, 8.7.5, 8.8.4, 8.7.13 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2023-31250 The file download facility doesn't sufficiently sanitize file paths in certain situations. This may result in users gaining access to private files that they should not have access to. Some sites may require configuration changes following this security release. Review the release notes for your Drupal version if you have issues accessing private files after updating. 9.0.0, 9.2.2, 9.1.9, 9.2.3, 9.0.5, 9.0.1, 9.0.3, 9.2.4 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25278 Under certain circumstances, the Drupal core form API evaluates form element access incorrectly. This may lead to a user being able to alter data they should not have access to. No forms provided by Drupal core are known to be vulnerable. However, forms added through contributed or custom modules or themes may be affected. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25277 Drupal core sanitizes filenames with dangerous extensions upon upload (reference: SA-CORE-2020-012) and strips leading and trailing dots from filenames to prevent uploading server configuration files (reference: SA-CORE-2019-010). However, the protections for these two vulnerabilities previously did not work correctly together. As a result, if the site were configured to allow the upload of files with an htaccess extension, these files' filenames would not be properly sanitized. This could allow bypassing the protections provided by Drupal core's default .htaccess files and possible remote code execution on Apache web servers. This issue is mitigated by the fact that it requires a field administrator to explicitly configure a file field to allow htaccess as an extension (a restricted permission), or a contributed module or custom code that overrides allowed file uploads. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25276 The Media oEmbed iframe route does not properly validate the iframe domain setting, which allows embeds to be displayed in the context of the primary domain. Under certain circumstances, this could lead to cross-site scripting, leaked cookies, or other vulnerabilities. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25275 In some situations, the Image module does not correctly check access to image files not stored in the standard public files directory when generating derivative images using the image styles system. Access to a non-public file is checked only if it is stored in the "private" file system. However, some contributed modules provide additional file systems, or schemes, which may lead to this vulnerability. This vulnerability is mitigated by the fact that it only applies when the site sets (Drupal 9) $config['image.settings']['allow_insecure_derivatives'] or (Drupal 7) $conf['image_allow_insecure_derivatives'] to TRUE. The recommended and default setting is FALSE, and Drupal core does not provide a way to change that in the admin UI. Some sites may require configuration changes following this security release. Review the release notes for your Drupal version if you have issues accessing files or image styles after updating. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25274 Drupal 9.3 implemented a generic entity access API for entity revisions. However, this API was not completely integrated with existing permissions, resulting in some possible access bypass for users who have access to use revisions of content generally, but who do not have access to individual items of node and media content. This vulnerability only affects sites using Drupal's revision system. 9.3.2, 9.3.3, 9.3.4, 9.3.5, 9.3.1, 9.3.0, 9.3.6, 9.3.7 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25273 Drupal core's form API has a vulnerability where certain contributed or custom modules' forms may be vulnerable to improper input validation. This could allow an attacker to inject disallowed values or overwrite data. Affected forms are uncommon, but in certain cases an attacker could alter critical or sensitive data. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2022-25271 Drupal core's form API has a vulnerability where certain contributed or custom modules' forms may be vulnerable to improper input validation.
CVE-2022-25270 The Quick Edit module does not properly check entity access in some circumstances. This could result in users with the "access in-place editing" permission viewing some content they are are not authorized to access. Sites are only affected if the QuickEdit module (which comes with the Standard profile) is installed. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2021-33829 A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the HTML Data Processor in CKEditor 4 4.14.0 through 4.16.x before 4.16.1 allows remote attackers to inject executable JavaScript code through a crafted comment because --!> is mishandled. 8.9.0, 9.0.0, 8.9.2, 8.9.5, 8.9.15, 9.0.5, 9.0.1, 9.0.3 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2020-28949 Archive_Tar through 1.4.10 has :// filename sanitization only to address phar attacks, and thus any other stream-wrapper attack (such as file:// to overwrite files) can still succeed. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2020-28948 Archive_Tar through 1.4.10 allows an unserialization attack because phar: is blocked but PHAR: is not blocked. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9

This issue affects: Drupal Core 8.8.X versions prior to 8.8.10; 8.9.X versions prior to 8.9.6; 9.0.X versions prior to 9.0.6. 8.8.3, 8.8.2, 8.8.4, 8.8.6, 8.8.7, 8.8.1, 8.8.5, 8.8.0 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2020-13677 Under some circumstances, the Drupal core JSON:API module does not properly restrict access to certain content, which may result in unintended access bypass. Sites that do not have the JSON:API module enabled are not affected. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2020-13676 The QuickEdit module does not properly check access to fields in some circumstances, which can lead to unintended disclosure of field data. Sites are only affected if the QuickEdit module (which comes with the Standard profile) is installed. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2020-13675 Drupal's JSON:API and REST/File modules allow file uploads through their HTTP APIs. The modules do not correctly run all file validation, which causes an access bypass vulnerability. An attacker might be able to upload files that bypass the file validation process implemented by modules on the site. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1, 8.1.3, 8.1.0-beta2, 8.1.6, 8.1.0-rc1 (Show all) Major → 10.2.9

CVE-2016-3168 The System module in Drupal 6.x before 6.38 and 7.x before 7.43 might allow remote attackers to hijack the authentication of site administrators for requests that download and run files with arbitrary JSON-encoded content, aka a "reflected file download vulnerability." 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1 Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2016-3164 Drupal 6.x before 6.38, 7.x before 7.43, and 8.x before 8.0.4 might allow remote attackers to conduct open redirect attacks by leveraging (1) custom code or (2) a form shown on a 404 error page, related to path manipulation. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1 Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2016-3163 The XML-RPC system in Drupal 6.x before 6.38 and 7.x before 7.43 might make it easier for remote attackers to conduct brute-force attacks via a large number of calls made at once to the same method. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1 Major → 10.2.9
CVE-2016-3162 The File module in Drupal 7.x before 7.43 and 8.x before 8.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to bypass access restrictions and read, delete, or substitute a link to a file uploaded to an unprocessed form by leveraging permission to create content or comment and upload files. 8.0.3, 8.0.0, 8.0.2, 8.0.1 Major → 10.2.9
